PRESS: China delays delivering parts for Russian census tablets
MOSCOW, Feb 14 (PRIME) -- Tablet suppliers for the all-Russian census, scheduled for October, cannot receive the needed amount of components to assemble devices because of the coronavirus quarantine at Chinese plants, business daily Kommersant reported on Friday.
The first batch delivered cannot be enough to produce more than 360,000 tablets, which are to be supplied to regional branches of the Federal State Statistics Services in March–May.
“Due to the prolonged quarantine at plants of province Hubei (the epicenter of the epidemic), sub-contractors of Rostelecom, Byterg and Aquarius, cannot receive the components for tablets,” a source told the daily.
State-controlled telecom operator Rostelecom earlier chose domestic firms Byterg and Aquarius as suppliers of the tablets for the census.
